About Bruce

My name’s Bruce Achterberg and I’m…Bruce Achterberg (photo taken in 2009)

  • …a communicator
  • …a researcher
  • …a connector (which means I like to form intimate relationships in a holistic way—between ideas, and with people, nature, and reality—and introduce people to, and help them see the relationships between, ideas, resources, information, strategies, technologies, and people that can positively impact and transform their experience of life. Simply put: I like making mutually beneficial introductions and facilitating new and deeper connections)
  • …an alignment facilitator and strategist (which means I find, create, and introduce people to ways they they can live more authentically and soulfully and help people come into alignment with who they really are, their strengths, their desires, their dreams, what they’re here to do, and the laws of the universe so that their life flows with a sense of ease and they experience more joy, exhileration, clarity, empowerment, strength, vitality, and an eagerness for more—an eagerness to really live)
  • …and an empathic intuitive who can read and interpret energy (of people, places, and things; mostly people) and dialogue with Spirit, currently undergoing mentoring and coaching from Slade Roberson and studying and practicing the techniques in his Automatic Intuition Professional Intuitive training program (while I study and experiment with a bunch of other stuff, such as herbalism, alchemy, raw, living, and wild foods, and the raw [food] lifestyle).

Simply put, I’m a writing, (sometimes public) speaking psychic who helps people to express themselves in every area of their life in alignment with and with awareness of their strengths—with who they really are; with their essence; their spirit.

In other words, I help you align with the You of you, with the word “You” being a literary symbol—a metaphorical signpost—that represents and “points to” your strengths, gifts, talents, desires, preferences, personality, and most importantly, your spirit—the very essence of who you are and what you yearn to express in every area of your life so that you may experience the joy that comes from holistic, authentic self-expression and alignment with Who You Really Are—the You of you.

Much like a tour guide (or sherpa) might help you navigate a certain area or location, I help people understand and navigate the “landscape” of self-communion by helping people to understand what communion (what self-alignment—alignment with the You of you) is, what it looks like, and I also share any ideas, resources, information, strategies, technologies, and introductions to people that make navigating the “landscape” of communion (i.e. self-alignment) an easier, more enjoyable, and more natural, authentic, and intuitive experience.

Self-communion (self-alignment; being Who You Really Are—being the You of you) is a natural experience we all gravitate towards—feel a pull towards—regardless of the different labels or descriptions people use to describe the experience. Sometimes, though, people cling to perspectives (not-so-accurate “maps” of the “landscape,” to use our analogy), or have established habits (practiced focusing—either mentally, or by taking a certain action) in a certain way that take them away from their natural, intuitive experience (which would be sort of like “taking a left turn” while you’re exploring the “landscape” of communion, when your intuition tells you that a right term will serve you more and lead you closer to where you want to go).

I can help you shift your perspective (”update” your “maps,” or at least, add to them) and help you understand and become more aware of the habits—the practiced ways of focusing—that lead you further from Who You Really Are (make you “take a left turn” when “taking a right turn” felt better to you) so that you may identify them and, with your new awareness of what feels better and more natural, have the opportunity to change them—to choose differently and move in a different direction, not because someone said you “should” or because you’ve been told it was the “right” thing to do, but because it feels right—because it feels natural, authentic, and true to the most powerful, most reliable source of guidance you will ever have: your feelings.

In the last few years I’ve been exploring the field of personal development, researching and studying many different bodies of work and ideas that have helped me better understand and practice conscious, soulful, authentic living and expression, feeling really good (and how to do it), and being in alignment with the Me of me. I was essentially taking the equivlient of a college (or university) “degree” in Self-Alignment, except my course was defined by my intuition, life experiences, and preferences (which is kind of appropriate given the message I share, and also explain my aversion to formalised schooling—the idea of someone else guiding my experience instead of me), ultimately (and still) guiding me closer to the core intentions and desires, which very much relate to sharing this message with the world and helping people further align with, become aware of, and experience Who They Really Are.

At some point while doing all the research, study, and exploration, I realised that “Hey, I’m not just studying this so I can use it for the [seemingly ever elusive] Thing-I’ll-Do-For-The-Rest-of-My-Life; I’m exploring this—studying this; spending countless hours pouring over it; talking about it, thinking about it, writing about it, sharing it—because I seriously enjoy it!”

And so here we are: I’m leaving Perfectionism behind (after hearing the very helpful advice of “be perfect later; maybe never” from my mentor Slade) and am ready to begin sharing with you the the ideas, information, resources, people, and, most importantly, the perspectives I have encountered—the things I am deeply passionate about and can (and do) happily explore (and write and speak about) all day. I also wish to make available to you, through the different services I will offer, the intuitive abilities I have had all my life (just like you) and have been working to understand and use consciously in the last year, as well as the strengths and talents I’ve spent a lifetime honing and the things I’ve learned.

I’ll be sharing ideas and resources related to, and will be available to support you in areas such as:

  • Spirituality; the soul; being who you really are—aligning with the You of you
  • Feeling really good
  • Authentic, open, and honest self-expression and commune-ication
  • Living your mission
  • Being healthy, living well, and feeling vibrant, vital, alert, and clear
  • The nature of—the “laws” of—the universe and reality

To give you a breakdown of and my take on each of the areas listed above:

Spirituality; the soul; being Who You Really Are—aligning with the You of you
You have no weaknesses; only strengths that can be better understood and expressed. Life helps you learn more about who you are, rather than who you are not, and you will always feel called to be more of who you really are.

Do you feel like you have something guiding and supporting you?

You are more than your physical body; you are connected to—blended with—a broader, “deeper,” less-physical aspect of you that, on some level, you are always aware of, will always be connected to, and will always be. Whatever term you use to describe it—your essence; your spirit; your soul—each word acts as a pointer to the experience of Who You Really Are—something that can be felt, known, and pointed to, but never contained within or fully described with any single label. (That’s why we have so many of them. ;) But they’re all accurate to some degree, and from the perspectives that use them. I want to help you connect with your authentic experience of that which some call your spirit, soul, or Source.)

Your spirit isn’t something “out there,” separate from you. Your spirit is you. You are an extension of that which you might call spirit, or soul, or Source, focused both “non-physically” and physically at the same time.

I’m naturally interested and drawn to, and thus, share—communicate—a very holistic, comprehensive approach to life and living that is very grounded, practical, and as much an art as it is a science.

For me, art (creativity and inspiration; spirituality; the subconscious; the right brain) and science (logic; physical reality;  the conscious mind; the left brain) are different practices and perspectives (and even styles) as much as they are symbolic, representative archetypes. One is not better than the other; rather, both have their own advantages and disadvantages, and while I haven’t lived very long (I was born in 1986), from my experience so far, I feel having a relationship with both the perspective and practice of art and science (in the sense that they are representative archetypes, like the symbols of yin and yang) is a more balanced and beneficial long-term and approach (the less-balanced approach being ostracising one or the other. I.e. Being deeply spiritual, but ruling out science, or being deeply scientific, but ruling out the spiritual).

Feeling really good
It’s possible to feel good most of the time—to beam and glow with energy, health, vibrancy, and sort of Celestial, Divine (yet very grounded, physical, and perceivable) radiance. It’s possible to draw your attention to your body and feel an utter feeling of bliss. Joy, relaxation, contentment, excitement, bliss, and exileration can become dominant states of being (or at the very least, states you experience often) in your “feeling vocabulary,” as consistently as you’d like them to be.

I believe—I feel deeply that—your emotions and the circumstances of your life experience are an indicator of how blended you are, and how much you’re in vibrational alignment with, the You of you.

Authentic, open, and honest self-expression and commune-ication
When you are aware of and in alignment with—when you feel and experience—Who You Really Are, your interaction with others and with life reflects that. Your relationship with yourself (”your-Self”—the You of you) is your relationship with others. To the degree you commune with yourself—with Who You Really Are—life  reflects that back to you in the experiences you have and people, plants, and animals you engage.

But this self-alignment I speak of is not a goal to reach; it’s an experience to have; a moment to explore, enjoy, and bask in; a heck of a lot of fun to be had! (Or not, which is okay, too. Authenticity doesn’t demand perfection; it allows you fully, completely as you are in this moment. I find realising that, and practicing that realisation so it stays with you even in challenging moments, can make all the difference.)

Living your mission
I love to see people enabled and empowered, living their mission, aware of and in alignment with who they really are.

I absolutely adore seeing happy, smiling, peaceful, and most importantly, inspired —in-spirited—people, beaming with authenticity and joy.

Heaven isn’t “up there”—heaven is here. When you’re in alignment with your mission—when you’re in alignment with who you really are—you won’t want to be anywhere else but here, because here is so very good and such an awesome platform to create from. After all, that’s why you came here. :)

You came here with things to do and experience—with powerful intentions that I bet you can feel, calling you towards something (or somethings) that maybe you can or can’t quite express in words yet, but feel intimately and intensly at your core, calling you, guiding you, and deeply resonating with you, with a sense of knowing that only you can feel.

You find your mission by feeling your way and doing what you love, which is most likely a synergy of many different things (your strengths, desires, and even those those things that seem unrelated—those interests you have, the experience you’ve gained, and the things you understand or are eager to explore and practice), expressed in a way that is unique and personal to you, fully aligned with your preferences, strengths, and desires. You find your mission by allowing life and the people you meet to reflect you back at you. In other words, you are your mission and you live it not by becoming something else, or something different or better; rather, you live your mission by embracing, accepting, loving, and aligning with who you are—who you really are; your gifts; your strengths; your essence; your spirit.

I want to support you in becoming more aware of who you are so that you can become aware of and get in touch with your mission, and then, I want to share resources, information, tools, strategies, and introductions to people that can help you to authentically express yourself to the world in alignment with your intentions and preferences, and most importantly, with your mission—all the while building a foundation that will support you in doing what you love such that your life becomes wonderfully synergistic, with every area helping you to enjoy and further align with and express yourself to the world for the benefit of all (including you! We’re in this together).

If you’re not yet aware of or living your mission in the way you feel called to, I also want to help you to navigate the transition stage while you build and embody the self-awareness, self-connection and alignment, and any knowledge or skills that will allow you to powerfully and authentically express yourself (and thus, your mission) in a way that feels not only right to you, but also deeply enjoyable and in alignment with your values and your core intentions. Your mission and life will unfold in the most magical, natural way—if you allow it to. I can help support you in aligning with the natural flow of the universe such that your experience unfolds with a greater sense of ease and enjoyment. You don’t effort or work your way to joy; you joy your way to joy.

If you are living your mission, aligned with it and who you are, I want to help support you by sharing the information, resources, and introductions to people, strategies, and technologies that can empower you even further and allow you to express yourself even more powerfully and authentically and in alignment with who you really are. It’s possible to feel good most of the time; it’s possible to do things that you feel you don’t have the energy, clarity, or knowledge, or “time” to do. I can help support you on that path of really tapping into and harnessing what you intuitively feel you’re capable of and truly living your dreams and desires. The only limits you have are the ones you create for yourself. It is with a powerful sense of knowing that I say you can truly can live your dreams. I can also help you to better see and realise where you might be already. The best of you is—your strengths and best contribution are—often hidden in plain sight.

Being healthy, living well, and feeling vibrant, vital, alert, and clear
Currently I’m very passionate about health and living really well. To me, health is more than just what we eat—it’s about having an amazing, vibrant, enjoyable experience of life such that you are empowered and fully able to do what you love, express yourself fully (not just creativley, but as a soul; as an extension of Source or Spirit), and fulfilling the intentions you came forth with and desires you’ve given born to and have been amending and adding to all your life. At the same time, it is about deeply enjoying what you eat, and having food and the lifestyle you have around it be a friend—an ally—that supports you and enhances and enriches your experience, rather than detracting from it.

We are literally made from (the minerals of) the earth, the host of intelligent beings that grow from and on it (e.g. plants and other creatures and organisms, both the ones that are alive now and the ones that lived before us), and the light of the stars (the most predominant one being the Sun), deeply connected to all of them. I bring the same holistic, soulful, results- and effectiveness-oriented approach to the subject of health as I do to all other life areas and on this website I would like to share—to introduce you to—the ideas, resources, information, and people that have had a significant positive influence on my life.

The area of health, like all life areas, is another opportunity for us to express ourselves more naturally and authentically, in alignment with love and who we are. For me that translates to a reverence and care for people, animals, plants, insects, and the planet—it translates into a care, understanding, and enjoyment of life. (See how holistic this stuff is? It’s all wonderfully related and interconnected; a beautiful synergy.)

I feel learning how to use food and your connection with the elements (earth, air, fire, and water) to consciously and deliberately create and regulate the bodily states you want to experience is extremely desirable. We all have physical bodies and they’re not something we can (or would want to) get rid of or ignore, so it makes sense to develop a relationship with our bodies and understand them, and what supports and nurtures them—to make our bodies our ally, enjoyable to experience and be in, and have them serve and support us with what we want to do.

The nature of—the “laws” of—the universe and reality
…or at least, better understanding of, and alignment with it …or the parts that I understand, have explored, and have access to. :)

I certainly don’t have all the answers, but I do wish to share what I see from my perspective and the many resources and people who have helped me along the way.

I played many (video) games when I was younger (time very, very well spent; I am rich with reward from my gaming background) and games were always easier when you understood the rules of the game you played (which, in the case of video games, related to the programming that governed the game). This understanding and perspective has stayed with me. Much like games (smaller, mini-worlds and universes that mimic life), life is easier when you know the “rules”—the underlying mechanics, forces, systems, and “laws of nature” (and of the universe) that govern it.
